TRANSITION

As you all know an autistic person reacts unfavourably to pressure and change. So those involved with the transition process must be very aware of the child’s needs. It also depends on whether that child, teenager or adult is moving from one class to another, one activity to another, one school to another or if they are lucky enough, going from one job to another.

A study from Cambridge University’s Autism Research Unit has revealed that 1 child in 60 in the UK is now autistic. Some calculate this to be ONE BOY in 38.

Autism is now more common than Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina bifida, childhood leukaemia--COMBINED.

STOP ALL THE CLOCKS

The Cambridge University study’s author Simon Baron-Cohen says the increase in autism is due to:

“Better recognition” ----this is baloney.
